Hi, I’m Nic, the Firearms Instructor for Son of A Gun. When I’m not teaching, I work for the Howard County Fire Department—so safety is my entire life.
I run Son of A Gun with my fiancé, who teaches CPR and trains police officers in hand-to-hand combat, baton use, defensive tactics, and handcuffing. Together, we make safety our top priority.
One of my biggest missions is helping parents talk to their kids about firearm safety. This isn't just important for families who own guns—it’s crucial for all families. The reality is, we can't always be with our kids, and they may come across a firearm when we're not around. They need to know what to do.
This is personal for me. When my son was just five, he told me he knew where a shotgun was in a house he often visited—and later, he told me he also knew where the shells were. It wasn’t locked up. I was terrified. I immediately started teaching all my kids safety drills. A year later, he found another unsecured gun in the same home, but this time, he knew exactly what to do. His friends wanted to touch it, but because of what he’d learned, they didn’t. My training didn’t just protect him—it protected his friends, too.
Kids can learn firearm safety without ever touching or even being near a gun. Let’s make sure your family is prepared. Give us a call or send a message, and we’ll help get your family on the right path to firearm safety.
